With the all the Phoenix area lakes nearly
at capacity, it is sure to be a great season for watersport enthusiasts.
Wakeboarders itching to show off their skills can compete in the Arizona
Wakeboard Association’s (AWA) 2008 Rider’s Series. This season the AWA will
offer six competitive events, learn to wakeboard clinics, rail jam
demonstrations and an end of the season fiesta. This long running
competitive series kicks off at Lake Pleasant’s Two Cow Cove on April 26th
with onsite registration running from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM and the
action is starting immediately after.
To make the season kickoff even bigger,
join us at Maloney’s in Tempe the night before (April 25th) for a fun, debauchery, and
wakeboarding. Maloney’s will be holding it’s Spring Fling and
the AWA has teamed up with Red Bull, Century Marine, Liquid Force and
Step-Up Productions to provide an awesome rail jam. Local outlaw riders and Pro wakeboarders will be
mixing it up to entertain the crowd at this outrageous party. Not of age or
don’t live in the Phoenix area, that’s okay, there will be an encore held at
the Mall on the University of Arizona campus on April 30th.

You needn’t be a pro to compete at these
events; the AWA offers 8 divisions to cover all levels of experience and
expertise. The divisions are novice (no inverts), intermediate (2 inverts
or less), advanced (5 inverts or less), Outaw (unlimited inverts), wakeskate,
masters (35 years and older), groms (11 years and younger) and women. Ask
any long time member of the AWA why they compete and it’s not for the
incredible swag that you can win or the killer boats you get to ride behind,
it’s the people. You will meet more people that share your passion at an
AWA event than you can imagine. It is a great environment with even better
people. Come see for yourself!
Thanks to the AWA’s outstanding sponsors,
prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division.
