The
first thing that AWA riders noticed when they pulled into Tow Cow Cove on
July 21st was the lack of water. Long time AWA riders can't remember
the last time that the water level was so low, a mere 66% of capacity, at
Lake Pleasant or the last time the water was good throughout the cove.
The low water level allowed all the islands, reefs, and peninsulas to show
themselves and block all the rollers from the main lake. Combine the
great water conditions with two X-Star wakes (thanks to Mastercraft Boats of
AZ), a chance for extra money and prizes (thanks to Hyperlite's Podium
Payback Program), and great riders (thanks to you) and the event was
unbelievable.
For
this event, every AWA rider had a chance to be treated like a Pro.
Mastercraft Boats of Arizona provided two
X-Stars. This is the same model of boats that pulls the Pro
Wakeboard Tour and the wakes were what you would expect from such a boat,
HUGE!! Hyperlite gave every rider a chance to walk away with more
money or hyperbucks if you made the podium and rode a hyperlite board and
several people are looking forward to getting their bonus. Even those
not riding a Hyperlite product went home with great prizes thanks to these
excellent sponsors. First place winners now have $100 to spend at
Mastercraft Boats of AZ, second place winners have a new board bag or rubber
wrap to protect their prize possession and third place finishers will be
modeling their new Hyperlite boardshorts. Every winner also took home
a Hyperlite "cool tool" otherwise known as a screwdriver tool.

SanTan Lakeside
Community
The season finale will once
again be held at SanTan Lakeside Community. Now that the lake is
populated with houses, we would like to remind you of the following things.
Please respect the owners and their property by following these simple
guidelines. Do not walk on any grass other than in the common
area. Do not sit, stand, put items on or lean on any of the docks.
Leave your dogs at home. Pick up all of your mess, we always have
trash bags available for you to dispose of your trash. If we have to
ask you more than once to not do something you will forfeit your ride or
your points. Please help us make this an enjoyable experience for you
and the homeowners in the community. THANKS!!!
Event
Time Change
The extreme Arizona heat leaves the staff,
volunteers, riders and spectators wilted, burnt, dehydrated and miserable.
In the interest in keeping everybody safe and healthy we are starting the
last event earlier. Registration will
be held on site from 7:00 AM until 8:00 AM and it is encouraged and recommended that all riders register
online the week prior to the event. Pre-registration is available online
(and much appreciated) at
http://www.theawa.com/registration.php.
The competition will start at 8:00 AM.
There will be no late registration and no exceptions will be made. If
you can't be there by 8:00 pre-register online. If you haven't checked
in by the time your division is being run you will removed from the running
order.
Banquet
The banquet date and location have been
finalized. Mark your calendars for September 22nd 6 PM to 10
PM. Since we had so much positive feedback from last year’s banquet we will
once again be holding it at
Jillian’s at Desert Ridge. Cost will be $30 for adults, $15 for
children 12 and under, and $5 for those who wish to be there but not eat (to
cover non-alcoholic beverage service). We will be giving everybody a raffle
ticket. People who have attended past banquets know that you are sure to
walk away with at least one door prize and you will have the opportunity to
purchase additional raffle tickets for the big money items. We will start
collecting money for the banquet immediately, so reserve your spot by
turning in
this form at the next event or mail it to the address listed.
