Hot Time in the Desert
Long time AWA members can’t remember a
hotter event. The Arizona desert may have been hot enough to fry an egg on
the ground, but the action at this hot venue was on fire. Sixty of
Arizona’s hottest wakeboarders plus a Pro or two found themselves at Spring
Mountain Ski Ranch for the 4th event of the AWA’s Rider’s Series.
Not only did Century Marine provide the
opportunity to enjoy unspoiled water and a great spectator location; they
also gave AWA rider’s two great wakes to show their moves on. The new
Natique 236 turned heads, made huge wakes and propelled riders skyward. As
the saying goes why mess with perfection, Natique didn’t heed this age old
adage and redesigned the 210 for this year. Never fear the wake is still as
steep and solid as ever, but now there is even more room inside for friends
and family and all their gear.
Liquid
Force’s presence at this great event could not be missed. Tino Santori put
on two great demonstrations for all those watching from shore. Before the
contest got going, Tino put on a slider demonstration on the rails that he
and the local L.F. team riders built on Friday. To get the crowd warmed up
to watch the outlaw riders take off, Tino did a few wakeboard passes and
wowed all that watched.
Rider’s and
spectators walked away with some great prizes and give-a-ways. Monster
Energy Drink provided a variety of flavors to help keep everybody cool.
Reef made sure the drinks stayed cool with great Reef koozies and a
smattering of Reef umbrellas to protect from the scorching sun. In addition
to these items, the top 3 riders in each division went home with some cool
swag. First place finishers have a great new media bag, 2nd place finishers
scored a new towel and a new pair of Reef sandals, while 3rd place finishers
got a Liquid Force t-shirt and a pair of Reef sandals.

Time Change
The extreme Arizona heat left the staff,
volunteers, riders and spectators wilted, burnt, dehydrated and miserable.
In the interest in keeping everybody safe and healthy we are starting the
last two events earlier. Registration will
be held on site from 7:00 AM until 8:00 AM and it is encouraged and recommended that all riders register
online the week prior to the event. Pre-registration is available online

The competition will start at 8:00 AM.

Banquet
The banquet date and location have been
finalized. Mark your calendars for September 22nd 6 PM to 10
PM. Since we had so much positive feedback from last year’s banquet we will
once again be holding it at
Jillian’s at Desert Ridge. Cost will be $30 for adults, $15 for
children 12 and under, and $5 for those who wish to be there but not eat (to
cover non-alcoholic beverage service). We will be giving everybody a raffle
ticket. People who have attended past banquets know that you are sure to
walk away with at least one door prize and you will have the opportunity to
purchase additional raffle tickets for the big money items. We will start
collecting money for the banquet immediately, so reserve your spot by
turning in
this form at the next event or mail it to the address listed.
